COMPUTER SCIENCE & Creative iMedia
Our schemes of work and learning at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 teach pupils to be:
- digitally literate in their basic ICT skills such as word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and image editing skills
- able to design, problem solve, develop and refine algorithms and programs in an efficient and creative way
- able to be a positive digital citizen online and be aware of the risks, actions and consequences when using technology

KEY STAGE 4
In Key Stage 4, pupils will either study for a GCSE in Computer Science or Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia.
Key Stage 4: GCSE Computer Science – Curriculum Overview
Pupils will complete their GCSE Computer Science over the course of two years. This means that pupils will not have Computer Science in Year 11. The exam board is OCR.

Key Stage 4: Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia – Curriculum Overview
Pupils will complete their Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia over the course of two years. This means that pupils will not have Creative iMedia in Year 11. The exam board is OCR.

Assessments
Key Stage 3 Assessments:
Assessments will take place on a termly basis and all assessments will be cumulative.
Key Stage 4 GCSE Computer Science Assessments:
Assessments will take place on a termly basis and all assessments will be cumulative. Pupils will also complete mock exams in preparation for their final GCSE exams.
The GCSE is assessed by 100% exam:
- 50% exam – Component 1: Computer Systems
- 50% exam – Component 2: Computational Thinking, Programming and Algorithms
Key Stage 4 Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia Assessments:
Assessments will take place on a termly basis and all assessments will be cumulative.
The Cambridge National is assessed by:
· 25% exam – R081: Pre-Production skills
· 25% controlled assessment – R082: Creating Digital Graphics
· 25% controlled assessment – R087: Creating Interactive Multimedia Products
· 25% controlled assessment – R084: Storytelling with a Comic Strip
Enrichment Offer
Pupils will be offered a leadership opportunity to be a “Digital Leader” for their peers. This role will include:
- Provide support to their peers in aspects such as logging into and using Microsoft Teams, Class Charts and/or other ICT related tasks.
- Deliver sessions and assemblies to peers with regards to e-safety, digital citizenship and using online tools
