Curriculum
RELIGIOUS STUDIES
Religious Studies aims to promote religious understanding and appreciation of people from all backgrounds.
The following principles underpin the Religious Studies curriculum; essential subject knowledge and terminology are carefully sequenced year-on-year; key subject skills and subject concepts are introduced sequentially and logically and the curriculum takes a largely thematic approach, allowing pupils to understand similarities and differences between religions.
The demands of locally agreed syllabus are covered in the long term and medium-term planning and pupil and parent voice is also recognized. The Religious Studies curriculum makes significant contribution in meeting the schools FVE and Personal development objectives. The curriculum makes a contribution to the RSHE curriculum. Religious Studies at Eden Manchester is complemented by a plethora of activities provided by the Faith Character and Ethos lead. These activities include Hadeeth of the Week, termly Spirituality and Cultural Days and internal competitions such as ‘Seerah Mastermind’ and ‘Eden’s Got Talent.’
